Pioneer HDMI control spontaneously disabled?

A couple of weeks ago I bought a new Apple TV and plugged it into my KRP600A / SC-LX87 system.

Previously, I'd controlled everything through a Harmony remote, but the new capabilities of the Siri remote led me to enable the various HDMI control features on the TV and the receiver to enable volume and power control from the Apple TV remote. It worked fairly well, although volume control over HDMI was a bit rubbish so I switched the Siri remote to control the receiver volume over IR.

However, a few days ago the system spontaneously stopped responding to power on and off commands from the remote.

Looking in the Apple TV settings, the option to enable home cinema control or whatever they call it is disabled, and in the HDMI Control section of the TV menu it tells me that 'current settings do not allow selection and adjustment'.

Nothing seems to be fixing the problem - any ideas?
