Pioneer DVR220. £187.00 at Top Electricals. I believe it has similar editing to the Panasonic but on R/W. But does the 'advert skip' work.

If it's the same as the 420/520/720 - Sort of.
There is a Skip button which skips forwards in steps for quick presses:
    30s, 1m, 1m30s, 2m, 3m, ... up to 10 mins
So 4 quick presses twice gives 4 mins skip.
Reverse skip is slightly different to max 3 mins
Once the skip has occurred, it's back to the start of the sequence.
So it's not a magic system that detects the end of the commercial break.
I've programmed 4 quick presses on to a Maxview universal remote macro key. It works OK to give a 2 min skip.

Ah, I thought it detected the add's & jumped them. Usefull feature non the less. I've the Panny E50 & E55 & was looking at these Pioneers as they are in Richer Sounds for £169.99. But it seems another problem is that when you use 'Direct TV Record' it only picks up the Analogue. I have the Panasonic Viera Plasma & I do that a lot from the Digital tuner (on the E55). So the Pioneer's not for me.
