Hi:

I am trying to decide which one of these two DVD recorders with HDD to buy.

I have read the manuals and can see that both of them have almost the same functionalities apart from the HDD size but still have some questions:

1.- Does the Sony RDR-HX910 have 2 scart connections on the back just like the Pioneer?. Maybe this is a silly question but the manuals i have read so far are a little confusing :(

2.- Can i edit the recording to cut out the ads with the Sony model? I understand this is possible with the Pioneer.

Any other suggestion is much appreciated :)

If you are a Freeview, satellite or cable viewer you may like the GuidePlus facility on the Pioneer. You set the timer on the recorder (it downloads a guide for you) and if it's a non-analog channel it will control the set top box with an IR transmitter. Then you don't have to set the timer on the STB. There is a list of compatible STBs on http://www.europe.guideplus.com/
(But maybe the Sony has it too).

the major difference is that the sony does not save thumbnails to a DVD... there is also some issue with widescreen switching, search the forum to check this out...

the pioneer 630 has a choice of different thumbnail layouts to choose from..

both have great quality, it is really up to your personal prefs...

forum about other probs...
