Just received my new DVR 530 and so far very happy.

Only problem is that I "thought" that a Freeview box connected to L1 would be passed through when in standby, which it is, but also when recording from the inbuilt tuner if TV/DVD button is pressed.

    According to the manual ....
When the recorder is stopped or recording you can choose whether to have the audio/video from the built-in TV tuner (or external input) play on your TV (DVD mode) or watch the channel that the TV is currently set to (TV Mode).

So with the Pio recording from the tuner I should be able to watch Freeview "through" it if I set it to DVD mode.

    But I can't!

Am I missing something? I have the Freeview box connected to L1 and then the PIO through to the TV, both with SCART leads.

    Thanks for any help.

Press the '+' button on the front of the 530 to turn on Pass Through when the 530 is recording analogue.
    See 'Tip' on page 52.

The machine should always be in DVD mode or its RGB output will become composite during playback. Don't ask why - no-one can work it out, including the nice guy I spoke to at Pioneer.
