I have decided that this recorder will do everything I need, ie camcorder to DVD and large disc for recording. However I can't find one available anywhere - not even Empire direct. Does anyone know if they are available yet and also has it been reviewed yet?

    Hi

It is due this month, keep checking Empire for an "In Stock" status.

    Regards

Thanks Rasczak .... do you know offhand if any of the NY stores eg. B&H will get the 5100 (in PAL) I say this because here in South Africa Pioneer have just confirmed to me that they will not be bringing this unit into our market. That said, the Xchange rate between dollars and pounds to our currencr (rands) is far in favour of the dollar with respect to DVD stuff so it would make sense to purchase from NY as I have done previously with other DV camcorders etc. To give you an example B&H were offering the E-100 @ $900 when it first came out and correct me if I'm wrong but the E-100 in the UK was about 900 pounds. Current Xchange rate in SA is about 7-1 for the dollar and about 12-1 for the pound ..... hence my wanting to purchase from NY. Would you do the same ?
    Thanks !

No idea I'm afraid. You'd have to send off some e-mails to enquire. Failing that you might find a UK store willing to charge in dollars?
