Pioneer DVL909 Help!

Ive just bought a Pioneer DVL909 off ebay, but its only powering up and making strange noises, Ive had a CLD2950 do this before and it looks as if it were the cogs on the transport for the dual sided laser mechanism. Is this worth investigating, Id really like to keep the player, if I can get this fixed, is there anywhere I can get this fixed?

There are only a few that can still handle laser disk though.

The seller is asking if I would like my moneyback, of course meaning sending it back, but these are getting rare and its in the gold colour to match my other A/V kit. Is this likely to get costly if I send it in to a service centre or should I just send it back? I'd really like to keep it, but depends on cost?
