    Hi chaps,

Read some really good stuff about the Pioneer DV868i and have one on back order but read some alarming stuff about the RGB scart output being a bit naff (I'll be using the HDMI output though) and would ideally have gone for a Marantz DV9500 but its a bit dear!!

Saw on AV Land that theres a new Marantz coming out for £700, the DV7500 and it sounds quite similar to the DV9500.

I can get the DV868i for £640 so now I don't know what to do. Any one have experience with the DV7500 or both players?

Want a great digital picture but CD sound is slightly more important to me.

It'll be running through a Sony TAVA777ES AV amp (behemoth :D ) and some rather nice B&W's Series 3 603's.

    Thanks,

    Damian

i have the marantz dv9500 and it is simply superb with video and music. It is equivalent to a cd £800- £1000 cd player.
The pioneer is also very good, but not as good as the new marantz dvd players (7500/9500). Go for the marantz if CD playback is important to you.

Thanks for that I am swaying towards the Marantz a bit and would love a DV9500 but its the next best compromise.

Any macroblocking issues with Marantz DVD players via DVI/HDMI then?

    Thanks for that Mark.

Where you upgrading? If so what from?

Where did you get the 7600 for £600 then? Is it multiregion?

So many questions.......feel free to PM me! :D

    I have an 868 connected via HDMI to my SIM2 30H @ 720p.

Picture quality is superb, really superb. Loads of fine detail. Very pleased.

However, the remote is a stinker - it takes and absolute age to respond and winds me up a treat.

Other than that, a cracking DVD deck.

    Hope this helps.

    Pete.

I have it connected to my Pioneer vsx ax5ai via firewire (i-link) and it is smooth, detailed and forward sounding.

Analoogue is slightly less detailed but very good never the less.

However, overall I prefer Denon as a CD/DVD hybrid so I think Marantz may be a better souding machine for music/stereo due to the hi-fi heritage ?!??!.

    Pete. :)
