Still/was on my first DVD Player a Pioneer DV717.
When switching it on it just switches the stand by light on and does not power on the rest of the system.

Tried everything even taking the cover to see if anything was loose.
I know the player was getting on. Got in 6 years ago and had a region free mod.
Does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong?
I guess I am probably looking at a new player. If so any suggestions, Want region free or at least one that can be modded. Willing to spend upto £300.
Like the look of some of the Denon's but can they be modded easily?

Sorry for so many questions but its been a stressful day!

    Hi mraggett

Have you tried pressing the standby button on the remote while the standby light is on?

    Hi Mike,

Yes tried that as well as the the eject button. Used to sometimes switch in on doing that although rarely.

    Thanks

Was a common fault in its day, the PSU needs attention, not a major job via any Pioneer authorised service center.
