My previous Pioneer player connected up to the coaxial input of my Dolby Digital decoder and away I went with full 5.1 sound.

However I have today bought a Pioneer DV-575 and I must be missing something in the menus / instructions because no matter what I try I cannot get 5.1 output on the digital coaxial I can only get 3/2.1

I feel stupid for having to ask but have been messing around with this for over an hour with no joy, what on earth am I doing wrong please ?

    Thanks in advance

This is displayed on TV screen when I cycle through the available audio tracks with the "Audio" button on the DVD players remote.

"either way 3/2.1 is 5.1" aha - I see now 3+2.1 = 5.1 = what a releif but I feel even more stupid now :suicide: (no wonder my previous player had 6 LED's to represent which speakers where being used :rotfl:

Thanks lots, I can now relax and watch my 1st film on this new player
    :)

I have always seen 3/2.1 as three front, two rears and the .1 is subwofer.

My Sony equipments shows the same format.
