    Just comparing these on Pioneer's website and other than DVD Audio / SACD playback (and obviously the 5.1 outputs) I initially didn't think there was much difference, but I notice it says the 575 has "Delay adjustment" and the 470 doesn't.

    What exactly does this mean? (why don't they have the manuals for download!). Does the 470 not compensate for the audio when using progressive scan, or does this mean something else?

    Thanks in advance...

    Rob.

    Well, they DO have the manuals online, I hope the links below works.
    The DV-575A has builtin decoders for DTS, SACD
    and DVD-audio which means it has to have
    adjustments for speaker settings for the 5.1 outputs;
    you set the size of the speakers and the distance which
    is actually the delay adjustment.
    Other than that, the 470 also misses out on dimmer functionality
    on the display...

    With the formats that the DV-470 handles, probably not since
    they are specwise similar and are believed to have the same
    components inside, including the MediaTek 1389EE.

    I thought the 575 was only about £20 extra, and that they are essentially the same player just that the 575 has sacd/dvd-audio support. I would just get the 575.

    I agree, but I think the problem is that the DV575 is too popular and
    hard to find so DV740 is a viable option if you are not into
    SACD/DVD-Audio.

    I've read about a hack but you need a programmable IR unit or PPC. Prob easier to buy it pre-done.
