Has anyone got/tried one of these, I'm thinking of getting one.
I'm sure many people do own them. So you can go and buy one safe in the knowledge that you won't be the only owner in the world.
thanks for the bump Rich!
Now that I've answered your original post, you can stop bumping the thread
However, if you actually want to find out something specific about the features/performance of the 757i, you'll do far better if you actually make a meaningful, structured post asking specific questions.
Unless of course you just wanted to quietly boast that you can afford the 757i
Another one, Thanks !
Got one last saturday "impressed"
I see on Techtronics site they are selling them with and without a multiregion mod. Is the multiregion mod a hardware upgrade or can it be done from the remote?
i brought mine from krish in chiswick for £700 multiregion
but i belive it was done with the handset !
Got one myself now, £699 Multiregion (software) from Paul Taylor in Peterborough.
Initial findings, very impressed.
how do i tell software or handset multiregion ?
surely that Techtronics price of £543 can't be right, this is £700 machine, this may well be my next purchase after three more gallos. Is Pal Prog do-able? and is the second scart an RGB pass thru?
The Techtronics prices are ex-VAT.
I asked the very helpful Davin at Paul Taylors, he explained they flash the firmware using a computer, you could ask at Krish.
Anyway who cares how its done if it works?
My other player is a DV-444 Multiregion, i've never come accross any DVD that would not play on it RCE included, I'm just hoping the 757 is going be that way.
I've had my 757 for 3 weeks now. Got it for £700 (MR) from Sound Academy in Bloxwich.
I'm really impressed with the performance with movies and normal cd's (using the direct stereo mode). Yet to try out the DVD-A and SACD formats, as i need to get some more phono's and some new format disks
I've had no problems with R1 rce dvd's, my favourite at the moment is the superbit version of the fifth element.
PAL prog anyone?
I mentioned Paul Taylors in my posts, I just realised they have a website http://www.multiregionmagic.co.uk/
757 only does ntsc prog at the moment, not sure if it could be upgraded at a later date for pal prog
Is the ntsc/pal prog function software or hardware implemented or both?
I think I read in a reveiw that Pioneer plan to release a firmware upgrade to include Pal Prog.
Would that interfere with the multiregion mod if it's a software one?
I called Pioneer Holland about this, no PAL PS upgrade planned
how's the layer change on the 757?
any freezing with a particular disc?
I'm thinking of upgrading to dvd-a and sacd but am going to get the DV-747A instead as i just dont like the styling of theDV-57AI.
I emailed Pioneer UK about pal prog and they replied that there is definitely no plan for an upgrade, hence my search moved on to Denon 3800 or A1.
Pioneer bring out a new range every year, so a pal prog model must be due soon, just a shame there isn't one now...
strange that this model was released after PAL prog was announced officially and yet Pioneer release it without. I think I'll wait to see if anything changes on this situation. With Pal Prog this would be the perfect player for me
I had my eye on the 757 having been very happy with my previous 737.
But with Pioneer STILL having the chroma bug, and not supporting PAL-P I went with the Philips 963SA instead.
What is the bass management like on the 757?
Does it do it properly for DVD-A (like the Denon DVD3800 does) i.e. all within the digital domain?
And what about the SACD bass management - is this all done within the DSD format or is there a conversion to PCM for bass management?
And, can you set the main front speakers to "small" and input speaker distances?
Sorry for all the questions but I've just been checking out the bass management on the Marantz DV8300 (their 757 equivalent) and it's not good - you can only set fronts to "large", speaker size settings only apply to SACD not to DVD-A and distance settings only apply to DD/DTS. What a waste of time!
Bass management........ er no, you can only set the Sub to either on or off, which I suppose together with the speaker distance is a form of Bass mangement, but no frequency setting.
You can set all speaker distances but these only apply to output from the 5.1 analog outputs, these settings do not affect any digital output or SACD.
You can set the any speaker to small.
I'm dissapointed with the DVDA and SACD playback, the SACD is not a good as my Sony SCD XB770, I have nothing to compare the DVDA to.
The CD playback if very good, which came as a nice surprise, I expected it to be the other way round.
hadn't heard that one before not noticed it on the 545
Does anyone know the chip(set) Pioneer 757 uses to achieve the prog scan. In particular is it the SI, Vardis...
Believe that SI shipsets are of the better ones.
