Is it worth me upgrading to one of these from my SD220 (which IMO has excellent picture and sound quality)? I'd like a DVD-A/SACD player, but are there any other advantages with the 565 over my SD220?

    Advice appreciated.

    Thanks.

Have they got any DVD-A/SACD disc out you really want at present? If not (very personal opinion) I would hang on if the answer is no, until they sort out the SACD digital link as it seem to be a better way of transferring this data not unless you intend to keep your surround amp for a very long time.

I intend to keep it a fairly long time yet. It does everything I want.

Your point about there being any discs I want, yes there are a few, but it's led me to wonder why I need another player just for a few! :p

I'll wait a while until there is a wider range of discs I think :)

Also Blu Ray is on the way could be a long time and expensive, on the other hand soon and cheap.
I’m hanging on for getting a recordable DVD till it comes out and the different formats get sorted out a bit more.

Oh and I have have just got a 565 the other week but it was to replace a old cheap player.

I am currently looking to replace my old Sony S325 (don't laugh!) with this model, what's the cheapest anyone has seen it for?

I thought all the 565's were multiregion so why are Richer Sounds selling it for £179 R2 and £199 for multiregion, is this just a hack I can program my pronto with and save £20?;)

Are there any other models I should be considering to feed my Sony KP-44 PX2, I am not too bothered about the DVD-A/SACD side of things.
    Any help appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Porker

As I say I have the machine and it is a cracking player although I will not be using it on the audio side for some time. I think it has to be chipped what ever to get the multi region. And does not come as multi as standard.
Avland are doing it at £208.99 UK sourced (black or silver) and have a DVD bundle which I wish I had got 2 weeks ago:(

    Hi all. :)

I'm thinking of changing my Pioneer DV626D for a 565A.
Would any of you know how they compare (mainly in terms of video and CD playback quality)?

    Amp: Denon AVC-A1D
    Front speakers: Mission 774
TV: Hitachi 32" widescreen 50hz (about 4 years old).

    Thanks in advance. ;)

I'm considering one for the DVD-A SACD angle - how does it compare to SB Audigy 2 at DVD-A?
