I have an oldish Pioneer DV-535 DVD player, that on the whole I've been extremely pleased with. Its multiregion (Richer Sounds Mod) and plays everything so far that I've thrown at it in terms of DVD-/+.

Recently on some backup disks it gets extremely blocky and almost unplayable. This is odd as other times when I play the same disk at the same point the blockiness is nowhere near as bad, if there at all...?

I wondered if there was some firmware available for this model player - or if there's anything else I should be doing in terms of setup etc?

Ive done some quick searches on the net for firmware, but can't find anything.

The backups are done of DVD-R disks using DVD Shrink and Nero.
