On www.whatvideotv.com it mentions this player supports VCD discs - is this the case?

I have a few VCD's so its fairly important for me.

That's the silver finish version isn't it?
The 444 supports both original VCD's and home produced VCD's and it also plays SVCD's.

Yes it plays them very well, but the fast forward isnt very fast on Video CD's.

I use mine to watch home made SVCD's, apparantley its one of the few DVD players that will play CDR VCD's and SVCD's back properly.

They are modded by the shop, so that they automaticaly change region and play RCE disks. Usually macrovision is disabled too.

Pioneer and the other major brands do not make multi region players.

Although the 444 does have a menu to change country, I dont know if this changes the region too. Either way it would be well annoying to have to change the region manually each time.

maybe a great player, but quite a few people are now beginning to complain about the light shades on he upper part of their screens in RGB mode.

I wonder whether they discontinued it for that reason ???

It's been available for a year which is about standard nowadays before the next model comes out.
