Hi there, does anyone out there own this dvd player, Im thinking about buying it, but I would like to know if you are playing a avi/divx file from the front USB, can you control the movie/video, when I say control I mean as in being able to fast forward or rewind?

Im asking this because I bought the philips dvdr3600 and it wouldn't allow me to do anything from the USB but play and pause, so if I have a movie, it was a bit annoying not being able to rewind or fast forward, so eventually I returned it.

So if anyone out there own one of this Pioneer and could let me know about this would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks.

I've got the 410 and can confirm that fast forward/rewind control is available for USB devices.

It's a nice player which I certainly recommend, but I'm slightly biased as I like Pioneer players & recorders.

Slighty off topic but I was wondering if anyone could give any details about whether the Pioneer DV-420-K is a good player or should I try and track down a DV-610AV instead. The latter seems to be very hard to find to be honest.

The DV410 is a very decent player , don't know anything about the newly released DV420 though. It's probably an update on the 410 so likely to be just as good.

Tinytim,

How do they rate on PQ?

All I really want is an excellent upscaling player, multi region, with HDMI multichannel audio dedicated for use for my SD-DVD collection, people always talk about the Oppo 980 but the 610's got fantastic reviews.

What's your opinion

Finally, after 3 years of intermittent research of players I settled on the 610.

I've had it for a few weeks now; all I can say is it's a bloody brilliant machine. PQ of certain recent SD titles, such as 'Casino Royale'. 'Batsman Begins', etc have a look that I feel exceed PQ of certain so-called HD programmes.

Well worth it for a long-term investment. :smashin:

I have a DV-410 for a couple of months, it is a great DVD player which upscale DVD to a super PQ quality. There is even picture controls allow adjustment to your taste.

The player also supports avi, dvix, and wmv formats.

But I have problems playing certain avi formats here, there is sound only without pictures...

the files are hd avi 950 x 450 format

Can I do anything to resolve this problem

These Pioneers won't play HD files unfortunately - the frame size is just too big. You'll need to convert them to SD format.

AnyVideoConverter and AVS Video Converter should do it I believe. Not sure about any free ones though.

catnono 950 X .. is a strange resolution it wont play..not a codec problem
only resolution try 640X480 , 720X576 ...no more than that

¿is there any difference in the picture quality between the 310 and the top gama 610 ?
....i dont need HDMI
