Hi All,

I have just purchased the Pionner dsc-353 on the recommendation of 'What tv/dvd' mag and after installation found that it can't paly 5.1 surround sound via my sky hd box or my tv. It seems to only play the front speakers and sub woofer via the the tv and it is really pis**d me off. I can't return the system as the vendor will not take back the systems as it has been opened and used and i don't want to spend another £200 on another system to replace a brand new system. I feel like have been that is not what it appears to be, i want to buy and thought I was buying a home cinema system but it seems that i have bought a dvd cinema system that only plays 5.1. quality sound via a dvd and nothing else.

If you are thinking about buying the pioneer dsc-353, DON'T, go for a real home cinema system.:lease:

Dear killermadal,

Thank you for emailing Pioneer about the DCS-353 Home Cinema System.

We are sorry for the misunderstanding about the term Home Cinema in regards to this product. Pioneer designed this unit as a DVD Home Cinema system with the ability to play full Dolby 5.1 surround sound from the DVD only.

The external inputs were designed only to play Digital Stereo and not any surround sound from external sources.

If you should have any further questions about this unit or any other product, feel free to contact us again.

Best regards,
Greg

I have just fallen foul of exactly the same thing....

Bought the DSC-353 home cinima system, only to find out that it only plays the 5.1 dolby via the DVD, so the sound from my sky HD is not in surround.

Perhaps it is our fault for not properly looking into the product, but I am NOT impressed! :thumbsdow
