Hiya all...first post so please be gentle with me (actually it is my first post under this username...used to post here a LOT a few years ago under a different user name...but anyhoo)

I am looking at buying a new budget AV receiver and had decided on the Pioneer D812 but have now just seen that they have released the D814 and it is a bit cheaper. Has anyone seen any reviews on the 814 or know anything about it in comparison to the 812 ( I have never fallen for the 'if it's newer it must be better' line)

    Thanks in advance :D

Saw (nb didn't hear) an 814 at the Munich show- seems to have gained PLIIx and some lumps on the front- no looker but Pioneer usually puts a reasonable improvement into their new models so see what price it hits at and make a decision then.

Thanks for that. I am currently using an old VSX808 that has served me well for quite a few years but want to make the jump to 6.1 now.

As you say the 814 is no looker but if it performs well sonically (as well as the 812 anyway)then it is a bargain at the price.

You can compare specs with the D812 here.

What's the best price so far?

Is this basically the same internal machine as the 812 but with PL11x and component inputs?

Judging by the prices for other Pioneer amps, I would guess you could pick this up for under £250 when other places have stock.

Any news on the VSX-1014 and VSX-D914?

From looking at the specs on the Pioneer site it would seem so. The 812 seemed to get good reviews all round though so I just wondered if anyone had seen a review or heard the 814 yet to comapre.

Although the 814 looks like it had the MCACS with the Mic included which puts it more in line with the 912. That being the case not quite sure what the 914 offers over and above the 814.

I believe that it is simply more powerful. All the new amps are on the Pioneer US site.
