Has anyone actually got one of these yet. If you have could you post your thoughts on it please. I was getting a Denon 3803, but this looks very good, its available now in silver and the ilink may be good for the future. (I'm only doing this once......but I said that last time!)

    Cheers

    Hi Dave,

I recently enquired about the AX5i at AVLand and was informed that it won't be out for a few weeks yet. Hope this helps.

IMO it's not worth the extra money over the 2011. The changes are all but 0 apart from the iLink.

Audio delay is nice for plasma owners

Its the audio delay thats the selling point for me. The 2011 doesn't have it and I really want that feature. The ilink may be a bonus for later.

    Cheers

I'd still rather have an AVR3803 over the AX5i however :)

May I ask why Dimmy. I know its more expensive, but is there anything else I should know! Otherwise its a wait for a 3803 in silver.

    Cheers

Well the real question surely should be which one is going to sound better!!!! Maybe Pioneer's new MCSP (Multi Channel Stereophonic Philosphy) will prove more than another pointless acronym!

I'll find out in a couple of weeks when our one turns up for newly built demo room number 2 :)

I agree Liam! I am assuming that the AX5i will sound at least as good as the 2011 which is excellent. My choice is between the Denon 3803 and new Pioneer AX5i. I'm lucky to have the budget for either (although I probably can't swing to the AX10i !!). I do need silver though (wife!)

Good luck with the new demo room Liam. I don't live too far away so maybe I can visit. Do you have a firm available date for the AX5i (or the Denon 3803 in silver)?????

    Cheers

    Hi Dve777,
Just to update you on the VSX 2011, if you look at this web link - http://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/product_detail.jsp?product_id=2327&taxonomy_id=62-98
You can see under the Multi-Channel Acoustic Calibration System section it also has a delay function,I don't think many people have picked that up, as I was in the market for either a Denon AVR-3803 or the Pioneer VSX-D2011-S, but the Pioneer won (for me anyway) and one of the contributing factors was the DELAY, but both units have that. Also I liked the colour more of the Pio:laugh: , I mean't the sound, as I did audition them both:smashin:
I hope this helps a little.

    Andy

Is this a true audio delay to fix lip sync probs on a plasma?

    Can anyone confirm this?

    Cheers

I've discovered it was reviewed in the September issue of What Hi-Fi. However much I agree/disagree with WHF it is good to get another viewpoint. I've tried to get a copy but can't. Can anybody scan the AX5i review and email it to me please or can I get it anywhere on the web?

    Cheers

    Dave
