Hi All,

Just got a problem with me Pioneer Av amp. Its the VSX D814 model which ive had for quite a few years now.

i was listening to some music and all of a sudden the speakers made a pop sound then the receiver showed 'Amp Err' in the display and switched off.

Had a quick search on the net and found this...
Pioneer receiver vsx d814 amp error - FixYa

if i do the 'enter and advanced sound button ' it switches on ...displays the amp err then switches off. so im guessing the PAC011A is damaged....?

any one ?

Try disconnecting the speakers and leaving them disconnected when applying the reset procedure. If a speaker blew (short circuit), leaving it connected will simply apply that short to the amp, leading the amp's protection circuit to complain. If the problem occurs without the speakers, then yes, the amp is knackered.

Hi, Thanks for your advice... i did try that yestersday with all speakers disconnected but still showed 'amp err' so does look like it is kaput!

but does look like i am picking a new Onkyo 607 up tomorrow now..

Well bringing up one of my old threads,

ive still got this Pioneer AVR in storage, so ive just stripped it apart... and was wondering do you think its worth
trying to replace the PAC011A's in it to see if it works,

would be used for me games room you see.

worth a try?
