The service from Peter Tyson is very good, they have quite a good reputation.

I recently ordered an Atacam Equinox rack from them and had no issues. Recommended :smashin:

I very much doubt the price will go up, it will more likely go down. Just be patient

Even though the RRP is £1000?

The £710 is a "limited period only".
Everywhere else its over £800, with £900 being the norm.

It was listed at £706 on Empire Direct [according to Pricerunner] but it's currently not listed if U search on Empire Direct itself. I think £700ish is achievable from AVLand as well, they will usually price-match but only list products at the RRP. They offered me £800 off the Pioneer VS-AX10AiS AV amp with no hesitation when I found it that price elsewhere.

    Where from?

So I don't need to be worried that this price won't be around in 1 month?

You'll be alright... you've ordered and they're shown to be in stock.

    ...and there's always Peter Tyson's!

I'll order after Xmas... maybe... it would make sense for the price to come down, if you think about it.

I picked one up less than a month and a half old (with the £899 receipt) from the trading section on here for £400! Multi-region too. It is worth every penny of £699. The progressive scan is beautiful on my PW7 (shame it doesn'y look like I'll be using the HDMI), but what has supprised me most is the Audio quality!

Unbeatable = £699, price expected to fall a bit more soon as this model is getting old, or you could have my Denon for £625.(unashamed plug)

    Can I ask a question?

What is it that makes this DVD player so expensive?
What features does it have that others don't?

It's Pioneers current flagship model, with features such as DVD A,SACD,i-Link and HDMI to name but a few. Also the components & build should reflect it's top of the line status. It costs more than it's sum of parts due to the fact of being one of the first to have all of these goodies in one box.

If anyone's interested, I will shortly put my 868 up on the for sale forum. It's multi-region and very nice, but the HDMI doesn't work with my plasma and I need the space.

I had an old Pio 625 which was on its last knockings and an old Arcam Alpha3 CD player which was better at Audio than the 625. I recently bought a Denon 1910 as a cheap replacement and regretted it straight away, the PQ was shoddy and suffered from macro blocking - the audio was on a par with the 625 but still not as warm and acurate as the Alpha 3.

The 868 is just unbelievable! In audio, listening to CDs that I have been listening to for months was incredible - like taking cotton wool out of my ear (I exagerate) but, driving it through my Yamaha AV Ama and Tannoy R2s it is a delight! I can place sounds a lot easier and it separates the high frequencies so much better than my previous setup. This is just through a puresonic Coax - It also has a pure audio mode that turns off loads of digital outs just to concentrate on the audio out, but I haven't even play with this yet.

I am over the moon with it!

-S just means silver in Pioneer speak. If there was a black one it would be -K.
