here in portugal i have these prices:

Pioneer 757 - 640£ not multiregion (extra 60-80) so say 720£

Denon 3800 multiregion - 1055£

720-1055 it's alot of money....

Is it worth it? I've read posts saying that the denon 3800 has some freezes. Does the Pioneer 757 too?

I have a pioneer 717 at the moment and no freezes at all! great player - passing it to my father...

Please help!

P.S. Only interested in DVD-Video quality, nothing else matters....
not SACD, not DVD-A.....

If other should be considered please post it!

thanks

Multiregion DVD-3800 for £799 at www.creative-audio.co.uk, www.leconcepts.com and £769 at www.discounttv.co.uk which narrows the gap a little...

Search the forum for info on 3800 and comparision to the pioneers...basically though, the 3800 player has had a few issues which seem to be pretty much sorted now...

Did you finally get a 3800 without wavy lines on the scart socket?

You listed Creative Audio for a good deal is this your local dealer?

not yet...this was the first model I actually tried on my own TV...should get the replacement soon though...pretty sure this was just a rogue player, so dont panic!!!!!

No, creatvie audio are not my local dealer but have heard good things about them and their site gives good info on the 3800 deal (most hifi dealers dont even know what PAL-P is :D)

My local dealer (here in Dorset) matched the price as I have used them for years and I buy all my kit there - hence I get Internet type prices with all the advantages of a local dealer :)

Just spent 25 minutes on the phone with Creative Audio asking for advice on which player they would recommend for the best interlaced output. Verdict DV88+, apparently better video than 3800 and an improvement on the DV88 and most likely better than a DV 27.

depends on you priorities I guess - ive heard the 3800 is better than the DV88+ on interlaced which is the opposite!!!!

No DVD-A on the arcam (extra dosh to add soon) and in genreal the look, build and and feel of the machine were reasons for me on the Denon IMHO (arcam have also had their share of issues with firmware etc)

best to audition or able to return to be 100% on your decision...(if poss)

Yep, that's what I have read. Having had a DV88 I'm finding it difficult to go for the DV88+. Creative Audio don't have a demo facility with a projector so I'm not convinced that their advice would hold true when watching a 7ft picture. My head hurts! I was getting a second hand Tag DVD32R but the deal fell through so I'm now clutching at straws trying to find a suitable alternative, just want a great interlaced output for my scaler, wish I hadn't sold my DV88 now, pays not to jump the gun I suppose, only sold it because I thought the Tag was a 'done' deal. Pretty cheesed off now.

That sounds worryingly like they are out of stock of Denon DVD-3800s and trying to switch sell.
I wonder if the hot price on their website is a hook to sell you a different product at full price ( probably with a high retail / low wholesale interconnect thrown in ) ?

Unless maybe you spoke to their cleaner.
