I've got one of these but it's ages since I went into the menu system or changed anything but it may be you have to specify in the setup to use the optical link.

Is the Video CD one you created? The 606 won't read CD-R or CD-RW disks.

I went from using the 6 channel outputs to digital output on my 606 a couple of years ago, and I'm afraid I can't remember what settings you have to change  . I would check for you when I got home, but I've just boxed up my 606 after replacing it with a 545. It does work, though, and you should notice an improvement (the decoder of the 606 is lacking in several ways).

    Cheers,
    Liam

Check the setting of the DIG Output on the Output menu.

Not tried any VCD in the player, but it reads auto CD-R and CD-RW disks without problems.
