pioneer 606d

    Help! I have a pioneer 606d which untill now has been pretty good.Now the sound has started to break up,mainly on R1 discs.Sometimes it plays ok but not like it used to.Has Anybody any ideas.

    I also have one of these machines and this is the first I've ever heard of this happening

    I know how upset you must feel as the sound quality of the machine is what made me pay the money for it in the first place.

    I'm not very technical at all but I know some of the other good people on here are, all I can think of is that there might be a problem with the lazer as this model is now getting on a bit, I hope it is something more simple (and less expensive to fix)

    Are you getting the problems thorught optical or analogue. swtich inputs and see if the problem migrates. If it does it may be the laser pic up rather than the sound connections.

    Not very techie but it narrows it down
