I am having problems playing certain DVDA and SACD discs on the 575A - they keep skipping and sometimes I cannot play them at all. Any suggestions of how I might fix this? - my firmware is version 1.7

Update to the latest firmware might well sort it. You running an old version.

Pioneer 2.09 for 575 firmware in Nero format.
    http://avland.co.uk/pioneer/dv575/575-V2.09.zip

Download, unzip, use Nero to burn to a CD-R or CD-RW. Put in the 575 and follow the on screen instructions.

You could also try some of the third party firmwares available - they add some interesting features - like FBI-warning skipping, the ability to pass Blacker Than Black, customisable subtitle support with DivX playback, long filename support etc.

I'm using Gufiak's latest at the moment, and it's great..

Find them all here together with everything else you'd ever care to know about this great little machine.

Having trouble burning the CD for firmware upgrade - I havent got the full version of Nero so cant use the recommended procedure to burn the CD - is there a way of burning the CD using roxio? - I noticed the demo version of nero on the nero website doesnt work as the licence is out of date - makes you wonder why it is still posted on the website!

In Nero select the 'File' menu and then 'Open' and selected the unzipped version file from the link above. Even the demo version lets you do this, its just limited to x1 speed recording. The file is only 1mb so its still quick.

Tried that the demo is time limited (aug 2005 - very useful! ) - cannot access the program - this is the download from nero.com - they say they will post a new demo soon - but have waited 2 weeks already.

If you just get the upgrade version it will run in demo mode until you enter a valid serial. So try that, if your on broadband....

Managed to get the upgrade version of nero working by adding an oem serial number (it doesnt otherwise). Burned the cd as per instrcutions on the website given in the post above - same error message when I put disc in player - cant play disc - happens whether I use a CDR or CDRW. Thanks for all your help so far it is really appreciated - any more ideas?

Get a third party firmware then, maybe that link is corrupt. Your sure you have a 575 ? :) I use Gufinks (spelling?) which is based on the latest version but adds some useful new bits. Links are all above....
