Hi all. Your guidance would be appreciated in choosing a player from the following:

Pioneer 575. (Cheap @ £99 universal player but has issues with chroma error
    and PAL progressive)
Philips 963. (£150 new and easy to mod for PAL PS and Multi-region)

Panasonic s97 (Capable player according to the 'Secrets' benchmark test.
    £170 new)

Has anyone had the opportunity to test these machines head to head? The player will be used with a Panasonic 6 series plasma via component for PS. PAL Progressive needs to be good and I just want to be aware of any other issues that need to be highlighted that may not be apparent at demo...Lip-synch errors etc.

I am leaning towards the s97 at present.

    thanks in advance
    regards FRANC

    Thanks for that PJ.
Alot had been written about the 575 and its feature list is impressive to say the least. From what I have read ( along with most pioneer dvd players) it has the chroma bug which is a pain and the PAL PS is supposed to be mediocre. The audio side gets much praise though. Will hopefully get a chance to cast a critical eye over some of these at the weekend. Much appreciated

    regards FRANC
