Had a pioneer 575 for a few months now and while iam more than happy with the picture quality, its noisy operation irratates me.Its one of the first machines and was wondering if the later ones are any quieter. My older pioneer 454 is much quieter
Can any one recommend me a player that has a quiet mechanism and good playback with pal/ntsc prog scan up to £150

My 575 only makes noises when navigating the menus.

Whilst playing films it is completely silent.

What distance are you from the dvd player?

My 575 can even be heard from at least 3.5M away during normal playback. There's no way I can concentrate on watching films with this player, especially as it is positioned on a shelf just above my head to the rear.

I wonder if I've got a duff one?

    Mine was manufactured in April.

I'm no more than 3 metres away.

I'm a fussy bugger and would notice any noise on playback.

    I recommend replacing it.
