I received my 575 from www.av-land.co.uk on friday, and it's brilliant. It's much better than my old DV-717 it's replacing.

Just waiting for my DVDA's and sacds's to arrive, so I can give the multi channel audio a try.

that looks like a fantastic buy for £150

begs the question why buy any other (cheaper) dvd player when so much is available for just £150? The icing on the cake would be twin scarts of course...

Don't suppose on of the CAs you tried was the Azur 540D was it? If so, how would you compare that to the Pioneer?

Also, I notice that the manual says the following.
Have you tried progressive 525 (pal?)?

After being disappointed by the very noticable Chroma Upsampling Error on both the Pioneer 747 and 757, can anyone let me know how the Pioneer 575 holds up in this department???

I am sure the answer to this is somewhere on this forum - but what exactly does this chroma unsampling error in the 757 do to performance? I was thinking of getting one but now you've got me worried!

    HI

Yes I did try the Azur and the pioneer is better I find the whole package better the setup , menus also it has resume

The audio quality InMHO is better as well When playing audio cds in the Azur it was noisy almost like the disks were 'loose' in the drive

    and its 100 less!

I amnot sure abou the choma will need toy story or similar to try but on Nemo it looks fine

    regards

Hello, i am thinking of buying this player myself but my TV only supports NTSC progressive scan.

What would happen if i put a PAL disc in?......would it try and play in progressive or detect my TV does not support it.

I would,nt want to keep switching progressive scan off every time i play a PAL disc.

    Thanks for any help.

Took the plunge and received my 575 from AVLand yesterday (thanks guys, great service :)).

I only had an hour with it last night but first impressions of both the unit and DVD playback are very good. As both my 747 and the borrowed 757 that I had been using very noticably showed the Chroma Upsampling Error on my 7' screen, the first thing I did was try a couple of the usual suspects in the 575...

All I can say is WOW, this £150 player seems to have none of the CUE problems that these previous flagship models had, the Progressive picture quality on the whole is stunning. The only test that it did that did not beat the 747/757 was the 'boat into the fog' scene on Master and Commander where the fog was a little more 'processed' looking.

On the whole I am initially more impressed with this player than any other I have used in the last 2 years :smashin:

skirpydoink - You will have to set the picture back to interlace to play a PAL disc.

    Sounds like a winner!
Can anyone comment on whether the 575 has cured the old problems of the 565, namely:
    1. RGB banding problem with Panasonic TVs?
    2. Weak subwoofer audio output via 5.1 analogue (DVD-A & SACD)?

    Hope so!

    Ladz,

Can you change the progressive modes (FILM & VIDEO) on this manually?
Or does it just force one mode?

    Anyone tried divx/xvid playback?

I don't think you can change Progressive modes manually... I'll give it a go with some TV stuff etc in the next day or two and see how it handles it.

Another question for those of you who have already taken the plunge!

How is audio CD playback, compared to other DVD players and dedicated CD players?

    Thanks,
    Dave

skirpydoink - thinking about it, you can change the players output from Auto to NTSC which should mean that all PAL output is NTSC. Not sure if this will display PAL material at 480P and if it does, I am guessing it won't look too pretty...

Got mine today aswell, great player.

Noticed something though which hopefully you guys can confirm...

Scenes which are totally dark look really strange, for eg on my Tosh rear projection set when I played the very start of Blade 2 (the new line symbol & then when the actual movie starts - starts off with total darkness until the scene fades in) the picture was most strange! It was like liquid moving.....it was solid black but with movement! what the fudge!

Infact when I tried last samurai - chapter 2 or 3 (cant remember) when you first see Tom Cruise drinking even the start of that scene showed the same problem.

To be honest the blacks are fine but in these instances some very strange things appear on screen. My previous progressive scan players never did this??????

    Help.....

Just had a quick look at a couple of New Line logo's and the scene in The Last Samurai and all the black bit look fine. Where Tom is drinking the sun is shining in the windows and there is a smoke effect that shows the slight 'processed' effect as in Master and Commander's fog scene but nothing too bad...

Watched a bit of Freddy Vs Jason and the blacks / reds all look great.

Just checking but you haven't got BNR enabled as that really does give some horrible results :(

I'm not exctly an audio CD purest but i'm currently listening to DragonForce (Power Metal) in DPLII Music and it sounds pretty damn good to me. I am still very happy with my purchase :smashin:

The DV-470 and DV-575 can be used to play Divx files that comply with the 'Divx home Theatre' standards, Video files that are outside these standards are not guaranteed to be able to be played, due to the complex and variable nature of digital video files.

Pioneer GB currently is performing playability testes and we will be publishing a collection of sample files that can be played on a DV-470 and DV-575 units in a short while.

The DV-470 and DV-575 can play back VBR MP3 and WMA files but again we can not guarantee the playback of all files, the capabilities published in the manual are on the conservative side and we do guarantee the play back of the types of files we state in the manual, there are just quite a few capabilities of these units that we have not yet published.

Divx with AC3 audio is not part of the official Divx standard but we have found that AC3 audio in a Divx file can normally be played correctly, the AC3 stream would be either outputted via the Digital out to your A\V amp or you can down sample and output via the 2 channel stereo outputs.

The DV-470 and DV-575 units do not support the playback of Ogg files.

    Regards.
    Customer Relations.

I phoned BuyYourAv today to order a DV-575 and they don't even have any in stock.
They don't even have an incoming date for new stock as Pioneer are sold out until further notice :thumbsdow
