Have decided on buying the above as a replacement for my 525....now where to buy one from!

Has anyone dealt with Home Cinema Heaven? If so is there 'software only' mod to make the 565 multiregional okay?

Best price I have seen this for is £199

    TIA

yes there is a "sw only mod" that enables multi region and RCE compatibility. Search this forum for 565 threads.

Just need a promto or other programable remote to send the code from.

Richer sounds have the regiin 2 onlt for 179
    Unbatable.com for 189

Hi, the 565 is available at www.digital-point.co.uk/MODEL.ASP for £199 Multi-region and RCE free - price includes delivery plus free scart lead (although not sure about quality of latter). Good shopping.

I have a Toshiba 210e. Would Pioneer be any better?

I imagine picture quality & movie sound are pretty good but how does it sound with straight stereo CD?

Is there any difference in audio quality via digital & analogue outputs?

Finally, is JPEG viewer useful? Can you navigate folders of jpg files?
    Thanks!

I found the info on JPG playback on the Pioneer site. It does it, with folders and thumbnails!

Has anyone compared CD playback quality between 565 and a dedicated CD player? How did it fare?
(I need to know if I can relocate my CD player when/if I go for the 565).
    Thanks

I don't know if this helps you, but the following is a quotation from a review of the 565 in the December issue of Home Cinema Choice, quote Even as a regular CD player, the DV-565A is crisp and uncoloured, while achieving a commendably low audio jitter reading in the WV Tech lab unquote.

Perhaps the best thing to do is see if your local friendly AV dealer will let you try it out at home - if they really want your business, I guess that is not too much to ask.

regarding the 565 as a cd player it surprised me quite alot. I can hear no difference between my old nad player (the type name I can't remember now but it's about 4 years old) and the pio.

much better cd playback than other dvd players I've owned (HK DVD1 and NAD L55)

jpeg picture viewer is a great feature and will be useful when hosting "pictures from our vacation" type events.

cannot recomend this player enough, it is (for me) perfect.

Thanks Guys! I am convinced 565 is the DVD player for me.
I have even managed to convince the wife that JPG viewing & digital video functions make it a worthwhile upgrade.
I haven't even needed to bother her with the multichannel music arguement!
    Merrry Christmas to me!
