I bought a Pioneer 565 (MR) from Richer Sounds as a replacement for my ageing Sony 725 about 6-weeks ago. I'm impressed with the player generally, but have found that occasionally (about once or twice during every 3rd or 4th disc) the sound drops out for a split second. When I rewind the DVD and play it again, there is no problem. Some of the discs are known good ones, having plaayed faultlessly on my old Sony.

Anyone else with this player noticed any such problems?

    Cheers,

    Steve

I had a similar problem (with different equipment). Turned out to be my COAX picking up interference from the fridge (!). I changed it for an optical lead and dropouts have gone.

Thanks for the response, but I forgot to mention, it's also happening on the analog outputs when I play a DVD-A or SACD.

    Anyone else have any ideas?

    Cheers,

    Steve

Rang Richer Sounds today and described the problem. They said it shouldn't be happening and are going to replace my player with an entirely new one. Great customer service in my opinion!

I have noticed the same sound dropout on the 565 which I
purchased also from Richer Sounds. I noticed it when I was
playing a DVD-Audio disc. Like you, when I "rewound" to the
place it occured, the dropout did not reoccur. I thought the
disc was dirty. It occured twice during the space of about an hour.
    A momentry loss of sound.

Let us know how you get on with your replacement.

    Cheers

    Phil

    Phil,

Haven't had a chance to use the replacement 565 much as I've been away all this week on business. However, so far so good in that I didn't notice any dropouts last weekend.

I'll be watching a few DVD's this weekend. I'll let you know how it goes.

    Steve
