Its probably been done to death, but!

Should I get the pioneer 656 or the 565. They're fairly similar price but I can't figure out which one is better. Obviously the 656 is going to be harder to get hold of though,

    Any Ideas?

    Cheers

The 565 has just been voted DVD of the year in the What Hi Fi 2003 awards and can be had for as little as £179 from Richer Sounds...

I have bought one to use for SACD playback - waiting to try it as a DVD player so will let you know how it performs

Apparently 656 doesn't do NTSC progressive...

I think at that price it will be a non multi region player.
I just got one today and the picture is absolutely cracking I though how could they improve on my old player but the amount of detail is stunning.:smashin:
I just having a bit of trouble with the sound set up at present here . But I had that with my old one till I got it sorted.

You just reminded me I had a X-Men CD freebie with the Times, It would not play on my Grundig 210, it would play on my parents Tosh 330 but not perfect. Just been and put it in the 565, it brings a menu up and plays spot on. All very professional.

Is it worth upgrading from a Pioneer 525 to the 565 then without a display device upgrade??

We've got a Panasonic Tau 32" PF10, no component/no progressive - single RGB enabled SCART (others are S-Vid). Would it be worthwhile upgrading based on this at all?

    cheers

I am using the 565 with a 32Pf10, and the intermitent vetrical ringing occurs on RGB, S-VHS is fine.

On this forum there is a thread about 565 problems a couple of pages ago that discusses it.

I got the 565 for the DVD-A / SACD and use the SVHS feed.
