    I read somewhere that a better version of the remote control could be purchased. Does anybody have any details i.e. model number, where available etc etc.

    Thanks in advance.

    I considered getting the remote from the 530, but apparently it does not work properly - the colour keys do not work, and they are crucial for navigating the guide.

    I am now thinking of getting the remote for the 940, which has a considerably better lay-out, but I am not sure it will work mainly because there is a jog dial which might not be supported by the other units.

    Has someone out there tried a 940 remote with a 440/540/545 unit?

    You could use a programmable remote, eg a Logitech Harmony

    If someone has the remote, can they please submit a picture, or describe what function the color keys do?? I have the manuals downloaded, but only the 530 DVDR... :thumbsup:

    I just had a quick look at mine, it does have the color keys for guideplus... model no. is VXX2969, if you want to order...

    Red=audio, Green=subtitle, Yellow=angle, Blue= Playmode

    If you have these function keys elswhere, they could work... it depends whether you can do with just EPG...

    Old post I know but I wouldn't say that. The 940 and 550 share the same remote and while it's a definite improvement it's still nowhere near as good as the 530, and crucially still has that ruddy flap.

    When watching TV I use the number buttons to quickly navigate around, this is a right pain when they're under the flap :mad:

    Hi.
    The colour keys are used to program a timed recording I believe. I haven't found the need to use them for anything else. Every other function works. Plus, if you need timed recordings, you can always dig out the old remote, if need be:smashin:.
