Pioneer 530 purchase advice

I had hoped that by the time I had saved up the money LXDirect would have had some more stocks of Pioneer 530's .... unfortunately they haven't, so I am going to order it elsewhere. Anybody had any experience of www.cheapelectricals.co.uk? At £318 delivered it seems to be the best price for the unit. Anybody have any other recommendations. Many thanks.

I also wanted to buy a Pioneer 530 and take advantage of their cheap offer. You have to pay £10 to join. Personally I wouldn't use this company for two reasons.

1. The Membership card took over 3 weeks to arrive. (I did get them to give me the number by email, so I could order my 530, this was after a week).

2. I ordered my 530 in August. a week later they emailed me to say they didn't have it in stock and it would take 6-8 weeks to arrive. And did I want to wait... stupidly I said yes. Five weeks later they cancelled my order claiming they had problems with getting the 530s from Pioneer. And they would be removing this model from their website. I see its still there.

I went to digitaldirect.co.uk, and paid a little extra. But, I got it two days later. I have asked cheapelectricals for my £10 back but heard nothing. Don’t waste your time!

This is worrying, I ordered my 530 from cheapelectricals on 26-9-05. The said last week they are expecting delivery in late October. There was no mention of a membership though!

Sounds like the same thing they told me. I think it says somewhere on their site that you don’t have to be a member to order (just to take advantage of their cheaper prices). For £10 I thought why not. I had read on Avforums that it was the cheapest price around for the Pioneer 530.

They do not take your money until they complete the order, so you haven't lost out. You are just playing the waiting game like I was; the only thing you are loosing is time.... I’m reluctant to order anything again from this site until I hear that they do actually deliver. Maybe they just have a stock problem for this item.

Does anyone have anything good to say about them?
(I thought maybe it was a scam to keep the £10 non-refundable membership, they have no stock at all)

If that's the case why not get it from one of the many other reliable suppliers out there notwithstanding that you may have to pay £10/£20 more.
I have heard that Peter Tyson are a very good firm with whom to deal, providing of course that they have stock!! I may well order mine from them although I don't much like mail order as it means waiting around at home to take delivery.

You may think I'm stupid, but if I decide not to use mail order then I'll get it off the shelf at Comet (unfortunately) and pay the £50 premium for so doing. At least I will have it in my hands and free myself from all the usual mail order problems.

I used CheapElectricals to buy a new out Sony HC90 Camcorder (Feb 2005), and had no problems at all.

I may have been lucky in that the new model had just come in to stock, and at the time no other retailers seem to have it at all.

In fact their price was still £100 lower than other websites a month or so later.

I paid no membership fee.

Quick update. even though they cancelled my order in September (I ordered it in August). I have a brand new Pioneer 530 waiting for me this evening. And they have kindly debited £306 from my account.

The only problem being, when they cancelled my order I went and bought the DVD player from elsewhere. Joy... Now have two players and I have to sort this mess out.

I spoke with Empiredirect today and although the 530 is not on there website yet. They are taking order for £319. Stock will be in the next two weeks.

Latest info. Cheapelectricals e-mailed me on Friday saying that my 530 would be delivered on Monday. Well guess what, it arrived today as they said. No problem with them at all.
