Anybody had any luck in getting the firewire out of the pioneer 5100 dvd recorder to computer/firewire card for use in premiere etc?

This would be so useful to do a straight mpegII-DV conversion.

Windows Xp recognises the pioneer but premiere can't make head nor tail of the DV device.

I would imagine the pioneer is not compliant in the same way DV camcorder is.

    Any experiences?

Oh - as luck would have it - somebody posting with the same query below. But I would like to know if someone has managed to do this with the matrox rtx100 or premiere set-up.
