The tuner will be of no use to you.
Haven't seen one of them new boxes of washing powder yet? Do you know who stocks them?*
If you use Sky+ then you're limited to recording what channel you have it set to.
So, if you want to watch another channel, then the Freeview tuner would be useful.
If you're with Vigin and have a V+ box, then yes, the tuner is practically redundant.
It'll in no way affect set-up as set-up is mainly an automated process for the timid to have all their Tv channels found and set up for them.
* Aerial - a metal structure cited on a roof (typically) with the express purpose of receiving TV and Radio broadcast signals
Ariel - a brand of cloths washing powder/liquid. Not my preferred choice - Bold or Surf for me.
Just a quick correction. Sky+ can record a channel while you watch another, or record two channels whilst you watch a pre-recorded program (or indeed use an internal Freeview channel instead). I hardly ever use the FV input on my Pio though.
It has two separate decoders - although the Virgin cable box has three I think (?).
Sorry PJ; had a blonde moment!!
I currently have sky+, but will of course get Sky HD for new TV. I don't know much about the HD box, but presume it has the same watch/ record capabilities.
The black levels on the Panny is great but wait a minute it doesn't hold on. Even the 10th gen Panels suffer from black level fluctuations and severe posteriazation bands. The 50" performs better than the 37" and 42".
Panny have improved Color toning and background details for sure.
Whatever others may do the Pio will always be ahead. There is an intermediate 7th gen Pio introduced recently in Japan. Need to check what's so special about it.
have you got any news on the 508 over there ?
