I'm extremely excited having taken the plunge after months of window shopping and reading up on them and finally ordered the 50" Pioneer. I'm after a tilting wall bracket and wondered if it was worth buying the Pioneer bracket or whether there were other cheaper options that people could recommend?

Liam doesn't work for AV-Sales anymore but try them anyway as they are sure to be able to sort you out.

Looking at the tilt one as the screen will be about 5' off the ground at it's bottom point as it's going above a fireplace.

I'd just assumed that a tilt version would be better, but would welcome any comments!

I have my 504 above a fireplace (exactly 48" from floor to bottom of screen surround)and use a Unicol bracket with the screen tilted abot 5-10 degrees forward. Looks great.

Messiah, any idea what model of the Unicol bracket it is? I've been onto their website and they don't have one listed for the 504HDE. I've had an email back from them asking whether the 504HDE is the same as the 501 or 502 and I've not got the foggiest!

It's the bracket I had for my Sharp 50" plasma Pioneer 503 clone). Holes are in the same place as the 503HDE so they definitely do one.

Do you know if that's that the PLW 0027 bracket? I reckon that's the one but not sure.

I saw on AV Sales website that there's a slimmer one that's about 20mm deep. Anyone got one of those and what do they reckon to it?

Sorry, really don't remember now which one it is but just ask them for a 501/2/3HDE bracket. They all have the exact same fixing spec.

And btw, the one I have from Unicol is no more than 20mm deep.

The one I bought from AV Sales was in the "power buys" section.

Holes are the same position as per previous Pio 50 inchers.

After a bit more advice on putting the thing up, it's going into a solid internal brick wall that's about 10"-12" thick and wondered what kind of bolts I should use to fix the bracket for the 504HDE to wall.

    For my 504 I used 8x "PLASPLUGS Hammer-in Concrete & brick fixings" (M8 x 80mm)
This is also into a solid brick internal wall.
As they say "You can hang a tank from it" (Well it's been there ten months now & not moved at all! :D )

    HTH.

    B.

BTW, buy a new drill bit, the brick wall in my house I mounted the screen on was made of engineering bricks!

I used 8x 6mm bolt type things - basically a bolt with a metal leave around it - this was recommended by professional installers who were in the shop when i picked my 50 incher up.

Once the bracket was up i held myself on it for as long as i could just to make sure - and i weigh a damn sight more than the plasma :)

Lucky for me i was drilling into therma block - if your drilling into solid brick deffo get yourself a very good drill bit - should save you the need to adjust the horizontal, knowing only to well how cheap drill bits dont actually drill into where you start.

    BKatz & Spike

Thanks for the tips. It should be here in about ten days, so I've got plenty of time to get everything sorted out. Can't wait!

As you said, I'll try and do some chin ups on it first. If it can take that then it'll be fine. It's more a question of whether I can actually do a chin up!

Successfully put it up a couple of days ago. Hardly slept that night waiting for the crash! But it's still there! Ended up with a Unicol PLW tilting bracket. Looks the business, just got to work out how to hide all the cables now!
