My new 464 has just arrived but I have noticed dark vertical faint bands on the left hand side of the screen when playing films. I have a decent scart lead but my TV is only a 28" Wharfdale.
The film quality is not much better than the films shown on Digital TV. Should they be ? How do I get rid of the bands please.
Not sure what settings the 464 should be on for this set up.

The dark bands are more likely to be caused by your TV and not the DVD player - poor solder contacts on the circuit board or the tube connections..
You may notice it more when using the DVD because the contrast setting may be different.

Thanks pinatubo Well at least that sets my mind at rest regarding the Pioneer also proves it dosnt pay to buy cheap TVs.
I guess it will have to be a Wide screen from the New Year sales.
More decisions again. Took me ages to sort out the Pioneer 464 from the competition !!!!!

Another cause could very well be due to any receiver, i.e. freeview or sky box if you have one?. Best to turn these off when whaching DVDs. I noticed similar sounding thing until I realised what it was.

    Cheers
