After reconsidering my options I think I will get the Pioneer 444 from Techtronics. Before I purchase it I was wondering if anyone has any sort of compatibility problems with it? Techtronics tell me that it is RCE compatible which I definately need.

I've noticed the thing about Panasonic TV's, is there anything else I should know of?

    Thanks,

    Robes

Techtronics? have a search for them on the forums, their mods are not heavily praised.

    I would recommend:

    AVland
    Leading Edge
Both machines are fully modded, including RCE playback and are probably cheaper thean Techtronics. Customer Service at LEConcepts is first rate.

Good player though, wherever you get it from. Set up right you should have few problems.

I think the mods are very well praised but their customer service leads much to be desired. They I think are probably the largest supplier of mods and therefore probably get more press. The satisfied customers just don't post about their experrriences.

I have 545 (Which is a 444 with an extra scart, fancy remote and some analogue audio enhancements) and I am happy with mine.

The 444 is an absolute bargin. Its a shame that I needed the extra SCART, otherwise, I would have bought the 444 instead.

    And it's RCE compatible, too.
I just played Final Fantasy and didn't even notice it was RCE until I found about it on dvdtalk.

IMHO, both the 444 and 545 are excellent value for money.

    Jon,

I have been looking at the 545 as I need the second scart but having a look at the leconcepts web site it states that only one scart is RGB enabled.

I wanted the second scart to daisychain the Digibox and presumed that the second socket was a fully wired passthrough.

Is this not the case ? If not it is back to the drawing board.

    Regards

    Ian

    Ian,

Whilst the 2nd SCART probably won't output RGB from the player.. It certainly passes it though.

When you switch the box on/off you can here a bunch of relays click in.

I have my 2nd SCART connected to a PS2 and it works very nice.. Better than I expected!

When the player is on, you get video from the DVD.. As soon as you switch it off, it passes the RGB through..

    Hi there,

I am interested in the pioneer 545 DVD.

Where is the best place to buy it from with mods added?
Are the mods the same from each of the following retailers?

    Techtronics? £269 free delivery
    Avland? £279.95 free delivery
    Leading Edge? £269.99 £10 delivery

I heard something about it having RGB through??? Does this mean i can connect my digital box to the dvd via AV2 and then connect the DVD to my TV via AV1 (both scart). Then if the player is off, the signal from the digi box still passes through the dvd (av2 to av1) to the tv so i can get RGB quality for both dvd and digital (my tv has only 1 RGB scart)???? Is this true and is it this simple????

Are there any other DVD players out there with this facility????

    Thanks

Your pretty much spot on with your assumption there Ice Cool, that will work ok.

I got my Pioneer 535 from Miller Bros, and the multi-region mod was carried out by techtronics before I purchased it and I've had no problems with it at all ( RCE works fine)

    Happy Buying, David

AFAIK, Sevenoaks Sound & Vision sell pre-modded Pioneers. You get some comfort from buying from a shop rather than by mail - instant collection, somewhere to go back to if you have a problem, etc. You'll probably find them fairly competitive, too. They cover their modded players with a 2-year insurance based warranty (return to shop) as part of the price.
