    Hi Everyone,

I have a option to wap out my Hitachi 42PD4200 plasma screen for a Hitachi 42PD6600.

Now my fear is I use my HTPC to view everything for upscaling content and filtering. Can anyone tell me what a PC connected to either the 6600 or the 436fde via DVI looks like. I know the 6600 is the ALIS panels which I have yet to hear good reviews about.

Is the 436fde a better option being progressive (??) or the budget HD ALIS panel. I have heard there is flickering on ALIS panels when viewing PC's is this correct.

My main goal is 720p support via DVI off a HTPC. HTPC will upscale all content or play HDWMV's or Movies to come. And maybe Sky HD when it comes to us.

I'm happy with the current screens quality picture wise but would not want to get one that looks worse in the long run.

    All thoughts appreciated.

    Regards

Comments re: flickering on ALiS panels are all ********!! or else LIES :lesson:

I the 42PD7200 which I use regularly with my PC via the DVI connection from
a Geforce FX5700 with 256 ram and the picture is splendid. Though, I haven't seen the 6600. Although it is the same panel picture processing is different. in the 6600 the processing is carried out by the I3 Intelligent Image Technology while on the 7200 there is the FC6 Picture Master doing the job.

If I were in your boots I would definitely got for the 7200, but if I would have to choose between the 436fde and the 6600 I would go for the 436fde. Seen them both, and i think the pio is better.

    Hope this helps

The 6600 from what I saw in the manual only has DSUB and not DVI. Not sure how the HDMI to DVI converter work quality wise.

Been leaning towards the Pioneer due to looks and not being ALIS. But you have given me some hope in the ALIS panels.

WIll have to bug the Richer Sounds guys tomorrow. Excited about getting new screens just bummed I'm in the situation of making that choice again hoping it's right. Atleast I have opportunity to correct previous mistake of purchase.

Might look at the 7200 as it sounds good specs wise.

These decision are not meant to be made quickly that's for sure....

My suggestion is to demo, demo & demo a LOT!! :smashin:

Though, if you have a budget for the 436 or 7200 , just scrap your
thought for the 6600. The 7200 has all inputs required for almost
everything, including 2 HD9hdcp) inputs, one HDMI and the other
    DVI-D, apart from 3 scarts, 1 component, 2 cvbs (1 shared with
comp), 1 svhs and, analog vga....... :D

The 7200 sports the sexy swivel stand too, picture master processing
for a 68.6billion colour palette, and the ALiS panel.....I take this as an
advantage rather than a disadvantage!! Hitachi quote lifetime of up
to 80,000 hours for the 7000 series panels in Japan

Though the Pioneer is a real scorcher too.....and you can also go and view
the Panny PV500 which is int the same league too :)

    Happy demoing!!
