Popped into JL Edinburgh at lunchtime, they had a Pio 436 XDE on display, rigged out with speakers and stand for £2395. Could be of use for a pricematch against your local JL.

Seems like a good price for a fully laden XDE package with 5 year warranty.

Do JL do 0% interest on a 'buy now, pay later'?

I believe they have 6 months 0% interest but I would just call to confirm.

Just come in from Comet (Glasgow) and seen the 436xde at 2799.99p. So that seems a pretty good deal you saw. Also on display there was the 436sxe at 2499.99p. What is the main difference between them ? Speaking as a complete novice I take it that with the seperate tuner box shall in turn give you a better picture and let you use other equipment (games console etc).

JL £2399 incl 5 yr warranty vs Dixons £2187 incl 1 yr warranty.
So that's £200 for the extra 4 years. Well worth it IMHO.
Currently got both Dixons & JL on order. Will wait a week before canx Dixons and hope that I can find a cheaper pricematch for JL.

Thanks to 'The McBunny Codes' (not staring Tom Hanks), my PDP436 XDE arrives tomorrow with stand, speakers, delivery and one year intrest free for the grand total of £2,154. If I don't pay it off in 12 months I'll end up paying nearly £4,000 at over 29%apr (anyone want to buy a kidney?)

Tilt bracket fitted to wall (£70), new Denon AVR 1906 (£230), and DVD 1920 (£180), on stand by. Bought a set of Mission FS! 6.1 speakers (£200), which look superb.

Cables cost a fortune as its a 6 metre run to TV and hope they prove their worth.

Now in a state of panic as I need to configure the whole lot tomorrow. Any do's and don't would be welcome

Also like to say a big big thank you to everyone who uses the Forums, been researching this set up for months and information on here is fab! Thanks guys.

I bought a 436 XDE two weeks ago from JL Edinburgh and paid £2509. I read somwhere that you get 28 days after date of purchase to price match anyone else's price, but does anyone know if that include the store you bought it from?

In a word YES! Call them and ask them to match their current price.

I'd pop in and catch them on the hop. If you call they may increase the price!

I've just been into JL Edinburgh and guess what? The ticket price is £2595 - exactly the same as it was when I placed my order a month ago. (and, although I eventually got it for £2509, they did not reduce the ticket price.)

Even the 436SXE was £2495, so I can't think they will be selling the XDE cheaper as a matter of course.

P.s. On a slightly different note, which DVD player would everyone recommend to go with it. With HD-DVD and Blue ray on the horizon, I don't want to go stupid on a standard DVD player, but I still want something half-decent to show off the panel. I had settled on the Denon 1920, but can't find anywhere that has any stock. The Marantz DV6600 doesn't look too bad, ether.

Would it be worth the extra for the Denon 2910?

Ordered the 436xde from Dixons at the weekend using the two codes. Just realised this am that the £100 didn't register. I did a dummy order today and both worked. Called Dixons to say code didn't register and they told me that amongst other excuses that i couldn't use 2 promotional codes. I said the system was letting me and I knew others who had the same deal. They wanted proof. So if anyone past or present would be happy to give me their order number I been eternally grateful!:)

    hi Konisberg

As a matter of interest have you had an email reply from Dixons confirming your order etc? When did you place the order aty the w'end? I tried several times on Sat/Sun but only managed eventually to get an order through at about 0200 on Monday morning. Dixons later canx the order saying they had no stock.

I have had an email confirming order and delivery. Apparently now they are out of stock at the moment. They did suggest that they cancel my order and I reorder but I would have to keep trying until they were back in stock.

    Thanks.

Oh well it looks as if I've gone from the option of choosing cheap as chips Dixons or 5Yr warranty JL seems to be heading for JL.

Gotta go to Costco tonight so I might see what price they are charging - about £2580 usually IIRC. I wonder if they'd undercut JL at £2399.
    Tell ya'll tomorrow

    Hi,

As I understand it, the Dixons deal includes speakers and stand. Can I use the Dixons codes to just get the XDE + media box? I was thinking of gettting the £50 stand from richer sounds.

    Is this possible?

    thanks
