    Hi,

I've just bought a Pionneer 434 and I am a bit confused about the high definition side of things, as I understand it that this plasma should accept a 720p signal (high defintion), but the 434 has only 1024x768 pixels, where as 720p is 1280x768. So I suspect it will down convert the horizontal resolution to 1024 not 1280, therefore its not really high definition or is it.

I hope someone understands what Im on about?

    Cheers,

    Graham

    Hi Graham,

720p resolution is 1280x720 pixels, so yes, the Pioneer 434 would scale down horizontally, and scale up slightly vertically. The 50" model is 1280x768 so it would only scale up vertically. A 768 line plasma is still classed as HD though.
