pioneer 40 inch plasma

hi i recently bought a 40 inch plasma. its pretty old so not sure of model number.
i tried to connect my pc to it via its vga connection but even at 800 by 600 pixels it says "out of range".
I am running win xp atm. will upgrading to vista sort this out??

thanks. thats very low.
but with win xp, the lowest resolution i can go down to is 800 by 600. theres no other options. does this mean a new graphics card? [i hope not]

I did manage to use a custom resolution for this TV and it worked fine.

Now I need a sky code for the remote. Any ideas on this please?

I have tried to use an windows 7 laptop with the VGA on the TV but I cant get the resolution low enough.
Is there anyway to get lower than 800 x 600?
