After buying the pioneer i found that it wont read my dvd-R discs( Ridisk/ Datasafe etc)
I thought the pioneers were great at reading discs, having had various pioneer players from the bottom to the top of the range.

Anybody know how to remedy this?

    non sarcastic answers please!!!! :lease:

I have a Pioneer 420 and have no compatability problems whatsoever with discs. I am current using ridata -r. I have used mirror -r in the past and had no problems with these either. Sorry, cannot tell you why you are having these problems. Perhaps you have a dud machine?

Are you saying that these discs won't record on your Pioneer or are you saying that they won't play, having been recorded on a different machine?

    They won't play.
The DVDRw works fine, and original dvds play as well. Its the dvd-r that the player won't recognize.
The rep from Pioneer was supposed to be looking into it but i haven't heard any feedback yet. :suicide:

Were the problem disks finalised on the machine that wrote them? Some players can play unfinalised DVD-Rs, some can't.

They'll always play on the machine that wrote them and often on machines of the same make.

If the shop (unknowingly) tried the disks on a machine of the make that wrote them that could explain why they played OK there but still failed on the Pioneers.
