I got my dad the VSX-301 reciever and was thinking about getting him a matching DVD player, something like the 575 but as the 220 recorder is only a bit more expensive is it worth getting. Hard drive recorders are probably alot better and the reson for getting the pioneer is for integeration and to try and only use one remote control for the whole set up.
Would this ease of use be possible or would the complexities of the dvd recorder mean that two remotes would have to be used, one for each. I'm guessing apart from setup the DVD player would work perfectly from the receivers remote (and it matches the style of the 301 where as the recorder doesn't).
