hi
does this receiver have audio delay
pioneers website mentions about surround delay but has been listed in this forum as not having audio delay
can some body shed more light whether there are more issues than one for time delay and lip sync

No it doesn't. The reference is to surround delay for different speaker distances.

i noticed u are using this receiver with monitor audio radius

i am still confused about the significance of time delay as i am going to be upgrading to lcd tv later and dont want to end up with a receiver which i have to upgrade very soon
the other option i was considering was yamaha 750 which seems to have time delay

hi
still confused as ever re the receiver
choices ranging from slimline panasonic saxr70 but cant find any comments re the same on this forum whether any one is using this
have been offered pioneer 1014 for just under 400£ is this good value or should go for yamaha 750
would audio delay be a major problem with pioneer

Not a problem rareive read on here ? i listened to many receivers last month and prefered the pioneer1014 to many other receivers,in fact my brother bought one and i must say it sounds great music cds films and multi surround, i ended up with a marantz 7400 thats good BUT i wish i had compared the 7400 ewith the pioneer 1014 a bit more ,why because imho the pioneer has got most of the other receivers in that sort of price range beat, thats what we heard in the dealers dem room that is now confirmed at home sorry to say if i could swop my brothers 1014 for my marantz 7400 i think i would now ive heard both, the pioneer has the power and goes like hell, it sounds so much cleaner than the marantz more powerfull and clearer in sterio, yes i was surprised at that, the other receivers we demd ie the denon 3805 too wam/bang the yamaha 1500/2500 dull and dark sound not very dynamic, not as powerfull amps we seemed to think ,felt the pioneer and marantz just sounded right some how so best to compare , some guy on here thinks oyonko are the bees knees but we never found any dealers that stocked them , so we never heard these and others i think and im only a newbie myself you must go listen but for me and my bro pioneer and marantz are to our ears the ones to listen to first OH that pioneer 1014 is so so good i tell you ! imho.

Sorry for the late reply, I've been travelling. I've not noticed an lip sync problems between the 1014 and the 435XDE screen. The sound is superb from the Monitor Audios. I currently have two R90 rear speakers and a borrowed R180 centre speaker while I'm waiting for the R225 centre to arrive. The plan is also to test a subwoofer to see if it makes a significant difference but the bass at the moment is excellent.

£400 is a good price. I paid £450 including installation.

The piano black look of the MAs also compliments the 435XDE bezel.

I think much of it depends on the type of sound one prefers, I think your preference is more on the brighter side of neutral, whereas mine is on the slightly warmer side :D The 1014 is a cracking amp too, all comes down to house sound :)

Yes sir ,your so right i loved the 7400 but i do prefer the pioneer for both music and movies , but its a movie amp the 1014 and thats its forte imho the marantz being a little bland for me, playing cds i find very little difference the pioneer brighter but im into rock and its good at that also ,just a little better than the 7400 imho, and for music there more even but movies are so much more involving with the 1014 ,didnt want to admit it but there it is, for now im happy in 12 months ill look again try other receivers maybe if i can find a dealer i might even try an OY....O how! about you did you listen to one, Oh oops sorry shuush . :zonked:

Has anyone had the time to play about with all of the various surround sound settings on the 1014 ? I have a DV668 DVD player and 435XDE plasma connected to it using the 2 channel connectors and would appreciate it if someone could tell me the ideal settings for watching DVDs and TV. I know that some things are set automatically by the source and that sound is subjective but the number of possible permutations is mind blowing.

Hi

I've got a 1014 to play around with and compare to my Denon 2805 - the loser will get sold eventually.

My initial opinions are that the pioneer seems to lack a certain depth or authority. I compared scenes from dvd's I've watched recently on my 2805 and the 1014 didn't seem to have as much kick. I ran the auto setup thing and have made a few small adjustments to channel levels. It also doesn't seem to be as loud as my denon (although this could be my ears!), and i've cranked a few test scenes up to about -8.

On all amps i've ever owned there has always been an LFE+mains option and i can't find it on the pioneer. I thought this might be worth playing with, does anyone know if it exists on the 1014??

Any other tweaks that people can recommend?

Cheers

Kazman,

Can you truly biamp the Marantz front speaker inputs ie. does it has two independent internal amps driving Front A and Front B speaker terminals....?

thanks....

It is biamped by using the SBR and SBL channels, not the A/B speaker terminals (these share the same amplification channel), so if you bi-amp the front speakers, you lose the SBR and SBL channels, which isnt a biggie for me really, might get a small cheap stereo amp for the SBR and SBL channels :D
