    Hi
Does anyone know if the iLink Firewire connection from a Pioneer 868 Dvd will work on the Denon AVR 3805?. Am currently looking to get a new amp and its a choice between the Pioneer AX5iA or Denon AVR 3805.
Pioneers plus point is the iLink connection, if I can get this working on the Denon then I may decide to get one of those... very cool remote :D

    Hi,

Unfortunately Denon saw fit not to include Firewire on the 3805, only incompatible DenonLink. The AX5Ai would be an excellent match for your 868. Hope this helps.

I agree. the iLink between the AX5i (or Ai) and the 868 is fantastic. The only differences I can see in terms of real use are:

    (1) the 3805 has 4 optical inputs as oppose to the 2 (only! ) on the AX5.

    (2) there are 3 component inputs on the Denon and only 2 on the AX5.

If these are not important go for the AX5ai...

Thanks for the info guys.. I'll probably go with the AX5i, keep my whole system Pioneer, 434 HDE - 868 and AX5i, does anyone know if Pioneer are going to make an HDMI AV processor?, would it be worth waiting for it..
Also has anyone got specs on the new AX5iA?... haven't seen it advertised anywhere as yet?.
