    Does your Pioneer 434HDE buzz?

I would like to know this so as to confirm whether it is one off or a global issue before I contact Pioneer to see if they can do anything about it.

Your help would be much appreciated.

Well I can't speak for the 434 but my old 433 used to buzz like mad from the top right corner. It was constantly present and got much worse when the panel was being driven hard with a very white/bright image.

I think it's just how they are but I'll keep my eye on this poll as I was thinking about getting the 434 myself but it's begining to seem to me like it still has some of it's old faults.

Have you noticed any streaking on your screen ? for example on the Aliens DVD when Ripley is standing in front of a monitor with scrolling green text, towards the beginning of the film, as the green text scrolls upwards you can see corresponding streaks running the whole width of the panel right through her face. Difficult to explain but very noticable. It's the other reason why I sent my 433HDE back.

    Cheers, Lee

It does buzz a bit but hardly noticeable. The fan of the media box is more of a problem...

The 504 has a very faint buzz, nothing compared to the NEC or the fujitsu and certainly quiter than the panny

There is a slight buzz from the panel but only if you're within a couple of feet - the media box fan is a bit noisy.

My old 433 had a slight buzz that you can hear if you were going near the panel. My new 434 is buzzing slightly "louder". I can hear it at 1m distance. I contacted Pioneer and they insist it is normal. They said an issue would be if suddenly the sound level changes and it becomes seriously noticeable and stays at this level.

Actually I was far more concerned with the new media box. I could here the fan at 3.3m easily. However when Pioneer changed it to follow up on the the dropout issue, the new box they gave me is extremely good. I have to go down to 50cm before I can hear the fan.

It buzzes a little, and yes the media box fan is noisier, but to be honest, the sound of a DVD spinning in the drive beats both of them.

Yep.. well i dunno how good everyones hearing is, but i have to have my head around behind it and within about 2 feet to hear the buzz.. the media box fan is noisier, but no more so than my silver ps2 fan (i add the silver bit because it is 75% quieter than the original ps2).. and all of those are much quieter than any pc i turn on in the room.

No buzz from the TV, no noise from the media box. I don't go looking for trouble so have no desire to stick my ear up close trying to find something wrong.

The 434 is bloody great! Enjoy!

    Thanks for your feadback guys,

My Media Box does humm, probably more noticeable than the panel at certain times of the day. I have had the replacement box and makes no difference to noise levels. In fact while were on this note my Xbox (connected to Scart 3) makes it do the old drop out thing failry frequently, anybody else have this?

I have been following your replies closely and mostly agree with your comments. However there are some people who claim that their plasma's do not make any noise - does this mean then that the rest of us have a problem?

I realise that it isn't really a big deal and by no means detracts from a fantastic experience but is it not unreasonable to insist on one of these quiet versions?

My 504 screen buzzes from around the top but you have to be within 1 metre to hear it.
The media box fan is barely noticeable.
The Sky box is louder than both...
