    Hi
I was reading on here the other day that the Showcenter played VOB files.
It doesn't list this on thier website though.
Does anyone know for sure whether it does or not.
Dabs are selling them for £130 now!

Jus found the answer myself on the Shwocenter forum.
It does play them, but unless you have one large VOB file (which mine aren't) you will get pauses as it goes from one VOB to the next. Apparently this is becuase the showcenter doesn't use the IFO file for chapter information.

Trust me on this one, avoid this piece of hardware like the plague. Pinnacle shoudl be taken under the trade description act for declaring this as wireless capable.

The hardwire connection is not much better by RJ45 cable.

If you don't beleive me on this one, go check out the pinnacle homepage support users forum. You will be hard pressed to find a posotive comment or soltuion provided.

I can concur with all the commments on the forum as I sent mine back to ebuyer. Interestingly they did not post my constructive critique on the user feedback page, probably because I gave it 1 star (but commented that it actually deserved none).

Trust me, you WILL be disappointed.

    Cheers

    Branny,

do you know what version of s\w firmware you was using.

many people claim it works with DHCP enabled.

    Depsi

The firmware updates to the most recent the first time you get connection.

Go check out the forum, you will not find many/ANY people who have got this working reliably.

    Cheers

    Thanks for the advice.
I was planning on using the wired connection anyway, but to tell the truth I was put off by the pausing between VOB files and no chapter selections.
I've already ripped 0ver 300Gb worth of DVDs in 1Gb VOBs so I'm not prepared to do them all again for the Showenter.
I actually would like a Roku Soundbridge for music as this means you don't have to switch the TV on everytime I want to change tracks, puls it allows you to play tracks simultaneously throughout the house. However, I still need something to play all my DVDs off the hard drive. The Neuston seems to do everything I want and have the right connections, but the user interface doesn't look very good. I'm very impressed with MCE extenders user interface. The D-link box seems good but doesn't currently support VOB files.
    Decisions, decisions.

Sony are ment to have a similar product out soon which is capable of displaying HD resolutions.

I think it has a april release date.

I too have heard that the pinicle 1000g is as usefull as a chocolate teapot. Steer clear.

well decided to move my equipment around and set up my Neuston device via wired ethernet connecting to a wireless notebook.

Not much point in changing to the ShowCentre as it has the same sigma chip.

Think i'll wait for the 2nd Generation to appear in the UK, before upgrading.

    Thanks for your advice.

I dont have any problems with my showcenter and it gets its IP from my router.

Its not fast but I have never had any of the problems experienced by those on Pinnacle forums.

And yes there are pauses between VOBs - but my kids dont give a monkeys.
