Official press release from EMI reads:

EMI Press Release, October 4, 2005
    PINK FLOYD RELEASE PULSE
THE DVD OF THEIR LAST EVER CONCERT
    5 DECEMBER 2005
On 5 December 2005, Pink Floyd will release their much anticipated DVD, PULSE,
on EMI Records. This landmark release captures the last ever Pink Floyd tour in
1994, and was filmed at London's Earls Court, on one of the recordbreaking 14 nights
there. The two disc release contains a full concert performance from Pink Floyd's 80
date global Division Bell tour, with rare backstage footage and previously unseen
    extras.
Pink Floyd are a band whose innovative and groundbreaking music is matched by the
startling imagery created by longtime design collaborator, Storm Thorgerson. The
Pulse DVD looks as good as it sounds, mixed in mind expanding 5.1 surround sound
and digitally remastered by James Guthrie, it includes a magical collection of
exclusive extras, new artwork and menu graphics designed by Thorgerson.
The concert is in two parts, the first half sees seminal performances by David
Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright of tracks such as Shine on You Crazy
Diamond, Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2), One of These Days and Keep Talking,
while disc two features the classic album The Dark Side of the Moon performed in its
    entirety.
Never before seen rarities include Bootlegging the Bootleggers, behind the scenes
footage showing a snapshot of life on the road with one of the world's biggest rock
bands and a screen film of Speak to Me.
The Pulse DVD captures Pink Floyd's final concert tour, although no-one knew it to
be at the time. It was the last concert they played together live, and their showstopping
appearance at this year's Live 8, confirmed their legendary status.

Perhaps I'm being thick here, but the technical features list two DD tracks:

Dolby Digital 5.1 448 kbps and Dolby Digital 5.1 640 kbps

The 640 is a much higher bitrate, what's the norm for DD 5.1 these days?

    Top news.

Anybody here go see them on that tour?

I remember going to see them at the Man City ground around that time. The most amazing concert I'd seen. Ever.

This will be a great reminder if it's from the same tour.

I was at one of the Earls Court dates, just to the left of the centre mixing console, almost directly underneath the mirror ball (used during Comfortably Numb).

They didn't play the complete DSOTM that night.

First half started with Astronomy Domine and just used a huge semi-circular rear screen, on which they projected the oil effects.
The 2nd half started with Shine On, during which the famous circular screen made it's appearance.

In a way I wished they'd played Echoes (my favourite piece) rather than Shine On; it's not something we get to hear live much in Europe. They played it on the US leg, and replaced it with Shine On for the European part.

Also would have liked something off Animals.

Top event though  - can't really call it a 'gig'. Certainly in my top 2.

I also recall some noisy kid (13 ish) behind us, singing along to all the Division Bell songs. - He was lost on most of the 'classics' though.

The coach broke down on the way back to Brum, we didn't get home until 3:30 am.

I remember the Flying Pig - the only thing from Animals :D

i particularly remember 'One of these days' from Meddle. Just awesome. the bass just thundered around the stadium. One of the few live events I've been to that had proper surround sound.

I was stood at the back of the pitch and all you could hear was people going 'oh wow' 'awesome' etc. The laser show was simple outstanding.

was that the 1988 MLoR tour?
I think they only played Earls Court on Division Bell/Pulse tour (1994) - according to brain-damage.co.uk

    OMG you're right!!!

Hadn't realised it was that long ago. Jeez time is catching up with me in a big way. I could have sworn it was in the 90s that I'd seen them.

Was there ever a concert DVD of that tour?

was filmed and released on video and album as 'Delicate Sound of Thunder'
(I have it on VHS and vinyl)
they then did another tour to promote that - including a long stint at the London Docklands. This tour was more of a 'greatest hits' jobbie - less stuff off MLoR.

Have a look in the Brain-damage website for a very comprehensive list of dates.

The gig at Manchester Main Road was 8th August 1988......forever burned into my consciousness. A completely awesome gig. The Docklands gig was 1989 IIRC.

Great news that it is coming.......

The BBC broadcast one of the Earls court gigs (I still have it on VHS :D ). I wonder if this Pulse DVD will be the same footage.
    Does anyone know?

Yes it's the same concert , which is also the same as the video.
I went to see them twice that tour once they did the 'hits' set list and the 2nd night DSOTM in full. Awesome

Amazon are doing an email alert so you know when the pre-ordering is open. Others may do the same. The sales figures for this one will be very interesting to watch and compare to other "eagerly awaited" releases like Star Wars etc.

    Music vs Movies ....

At last..a Merry Christmas is beckoning!
I was at the Earls Court gig on the night of the unfortunate seating collapse (the first night I think)!! I was in the balcony immediately above. All we could hear was the rumble of peoples feat, like thunder, whilst the first chord of Shine On started. And then a crash..and then the lights came on and the music stopped!
There was some genuinely shaken people that night.
Anyway! Went back 2 nights later (I think) and saw a great show, far better than the Wembley gig in '88 (sound wise at least, though I also saw them at the Docklands Arena). Remembered the inflatable pig (pigs?) that bounced around above the speakers during One of These Days. And remembered the glitter ball splitting open and thousands of beads of light shimmering and sparkling. Great times! :smashin:
The movie for Time...was it the original or the new CG film that was done? I remember seeing two types of films for Time but not sure which gig. i think the CG movie was shown at the Docklands gig...
Anyway, I'm hoping that the pic quality is good even though it was filmed for TV. But it does seem the sound should be excellent (I hope so)!

I would hope that, considering the amount of time (and effort) that has gone into this, both video and audio quality will be excellent. I seem to recall that, many, many months ago, the seemingly interminable delays were being put down to ensuring that the sound quality was excelllent as well as the standard of the menus (which hopefully will be pure Floyd :))

i used to be so up on this stuff, but so many years have passed. i think the pulse earls court show was on tv and the video is the same show, perhaps slightly differently edited (ie. like the wall in berlin, the vhs/dvd/cd has the rehearsal take of one of the songs when the sound failed during the live show - they did a full dress rehearsal before the live show so they could cut to the recording if things went wrong), anyways, i think the cd of pulse (my cds are all over the place so i cant find it now) is compiled from various shows on the tour, whereas the video is a full show

i think delicate sound of thunder, both cd and vhs are compilations of various shows, but not the same shows on each.

more interestingly there was also the vienna live show from the delicate sound tour that was shown in full live on bbc back in the day. this seems to be pretty well forgotten about by many people

and also, there is the wall documentary that was on tv thats not on the dvd, from only a few years ago around when the dvd came out, featuring some great archive footage

i oculd be wrong with some of this info, so please correct me if you can
