    From MovieHole today:

    Bond Producers Want Bond Back?

Despite DAD being very hit and miss, i'd still like to see Pierce back having one more go at Bond and i hope there's an element of truth to this rumour. What do you guys think? Should he come back or should they make way for a younger bloke like Clive Owen?

    Yes - Bring Back Brosnan!

He's good for at least another 2 Bond Movies.

I don't rate Clive Owen at all.

I think someone that could do the "edgy" style (similar to Timothy Dalton did) would be Jason Issacs - but no doubt the producers would think he's too old.

Heard that Brosnan was touting this to people like Tarantino as the Casino Royale film is the only one not owned by Broccoli, so could be made out of franchise independently.

brosnan is the best since Connery. None of the names banded about are superior in any way. It would be superb

How could he possibly be doing any such thing when Eon (the Broccolli camp) have announced that they are making it?

I think you'll find that Eon now owns the rights to "Casino Royale" and that Martin Campbell is director.

It was reported that Tarantino at one time expressed an interest in directing this, but it wasn't being "touted" by Pierce Brosnan, for the simple reason the property isn't his to tout.

Absolutely agree! Connery and Brosnan are Bond! They show his humour, his seriousness and his dark side and do them all equally.

I seriously hope that is true! Pierce Brosnan is by far my favourite Bond and I think he definitely has one more movie left in him in the role.

On another note I hope this is true so that Clive Owen doesn't become next Bond, I just can't picture him in the role. If this isn't true I hope the bloke from nip/tuck becomes the next Bond

I thought he was contracted for 4 (Or was it 5) Bond films. When the contract ended, they didn't ask him back and started looking for other Bonds. Seems like they didn't find the right person.

The last Bond film was terrible (Is it DAD with Halle Berry ?). The action scenes had been done before (Lasers) and the CGI was apalling (Kite surfing on a huge wave). They really need to get their act together and make the next one original and exciting. DAD was just a whole load of noise to me.

    Richie.

Many people say Die Another Day was terrible and the worst of the Brosnan Bond movies ( personally i think The World is Not Enough was the worst ) but the point is it made money and was the biggest Bond hit to date therefore someone liked it despite some dodgy CGI and the first half of DAD was superb, the fencing scene was brutal and i loved it its only after they reached the Ice Palace that i felt it fell apart.

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0381061/

Pre-Production with Campbell and the interest from Tarentino is mentioned in that thread.

Personally i would love to see them bring back Michelle Yeoh from Tomorrow Never Dies and whatever they do i hope they get a much better bad guy as all of the bad guys during the Brosnan period have been pretty unexciting except for OnaTop, she was superb.

Totally agree about Clive Owen he's somewhat wooden, I can't See Julian Macmahon as Bond either though as he's Doctor Doom in this summers Superhero-fest, The Fantstic Four.

Jason Isaacs could do it and Daniel Craig's(Layer Cake, Road To Perdition) name was bandied about at the same time as Clive Owen's, either one would could definately bring a grittiness to the role that I don't think Brosnan had.

No, No , No, not Will Smith-----------------please.
Agree that Connery and Brosnan are the best Bonds to date.
However, if a new Bond is required, how about Adrien Lester from BBC's ''Hustle''?

Pierce Brosnan can't bring a grittiness to the role if it's not scripted! Mind you they did add a little extra grit with the torture sequence in the beginning of Die Another Day, which was a step in the right direction.

I say bring back Pierce Brosnan

Trouble is in Casino, Bond is meant to be a lot younger. While Brosnan is great as Bond, I don't think he would be right for that one.

Probably in complete minority here, but I've never liked Brosnan as Bond - too much male mannequin over him. Roger Moore was better, but tended to turn the movies too much into comedies for my taste. Being from 1964, I'm too young to have grown up with Connery as the 'right' Bond, so my personal favorite is and remains Timothy Dalton. Loved the tougher, more realistic aspect he brought to the role. Haven't read any of the Bond books, but have heard from others that he should actually be the one that comes closest to the Bond of the books.

    Cheers,
    Erling

Honestly they have to be kidding with Daniel Craig! There is no way that I could possibly imagine him being James Bond. In fact he makes Clive Owen look like a good choice.

    Bring back Pierce Brosnan

Daniel Craig looks like an east end thug (so does Clive owen) or a fisherman.

    Hardly Bond material!

/em call the lynch mob :D

I thought the choice of Dalton for all the 80s Bond films was somewhat fitting, the 80s were actually that bad :rotfl:

Timothy Dalton was OK,but Roger Moore was just a ladies man too much and made the films more of a comedy and not enough seriousness!!
The Irony is that one of my all time favourites is a Roger Moore one.Pierce Brosnan imho is the best so far and certainly equal to Sean Connery.
