    Hi,

I'm sure this has been asked before, but things may have changed.... so...
What are the recommended sites for putting up photos so that friends and family can view them - also would be good if they can be password protected.

    Thanks.

webspace and addresses can be had really cheaply now, basic HTML/flash galleries can be created very simply (windows inorporates a crap but easy to use one), so does photoshop etc, much better than any online photosharing site thats for sure!

im currently working on creating my portfolio using a really nice flash gallery, whcih should look ace as tits when its done

Agree about your point webspace/domains are really cheap but the original question revolved around a (preferably free) secure password protected gallery that family and friends could access.

Mmmm very interesting, gonna go have a looksy now :D

    My vote goes for

    http://www.pbase.com/

You can make galleries hidden and also password protected if you want.

    Not free, but worth it.

I have public galleries here http://www.pbase.com/markgrant and a few hiden galleries for family stuff.

One of my public galleries has resulted in a request from a publisher wanting to use some of my photos in a book , early days yet but at least I might get a few £'s towards another lens :)

another vote for pbase from me - worth every penny in my opinion.

i've also used simpleviewer a few times - great for building quick little albums like
http://www.pinkomatic.co.uk/photos. Dead easy to use and easy to tinker with and fit into a site design if you buy the source code. Think I paid $19.99 or summut.

It's ideal - it can be used in it's simplest form to create some great albums using other people's templates - yet with a bit of coding knowledge it is a very powerful tool that can make unique personalised albums time after time..

God - I sound like a salesman, I'd like to stress I am in way affiliated with this (free) piece of software.

How much is pbase fellas? I'm guessing it will be by the amount of space you buy.
